Testimonials"Are traditional hymns doomed to history books?
A large number of churchs and belivers today sing only "contemporary" songs. White it is true that Christian music of today offers much spiritual encouragement, we should not abandon the music of our Christian heritage. Many Christians today have never experienced the rich Christian culture that traditional humns and psalms bring to us and our families. Singing is an integral part of home discipleship. The Bible tells us to speak to and encourage one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. (See Col. 3:16; Eph. 5:19.) For hymns and psalms to become a part of our daily lives, we need to sing and memorize them. I want to thank Doug Horne, Music Director of Family of Faith Church, for compliling this resource specifically for home discipleship families. The Home Discipleship Hymnbook includes many familier hymns and psalms that families can learn and sing. Families using The Hhome Discipleship Hymnbook will experience the reverrence and beauty of our Christian worship heritage. I suggest that each Family member has his or her own hymn book. Write their names in them. After you spend time as a family readding the Bible and memorizing God's word, family memeber can get our their own hymnbooks to sing a hymn of the month. Sometimes you'll sing more than one song. Most important thing will be your engagment into historic and biblical worship in your own home. My family actively practices home discipleship, including the worship of God through psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. My prayer for you is that your family will also drink abundantly from the well of traditional Christian music available in The Home Discipleship Hymnbook. Sincerly, Henry Reyenga, President, Christian Leaders Institute |
